In this intense tale of hunting for Javelina boars in Sonora, Mexico, Bob is unsure if he will even have the opportunity to see one of these animals but as the story progresses he finds himself on the “Stairway to the Sky” - the high and dangerous country above the rim rock where “a horse will follow, but will not lead”. He presents a picturesque description of the landscape, and the dangers on the mountainside journey and when he faces the boars that create a very climactic dramatization of his hunt.
