Bob illustrates the ways his gun is literally his means of survival during his six-month mineralogical exploration on the Orinoco. The setting is a sensational element, and Bob describes it in a way that puts you right in there, and his sense of humor is apparent throughout, even during some of the most climactic moments. This is an incredible example of the amazing life Bob led, and his masterful way of bringing it to life through his own voice.
